National Address in Saudi Arabia: what residents should know
Saudi Arabia uses the National Address as an approved, standardised address for individuals and organisations. Saudi Post | SPL lists the service for both citizens and residents, and registration is free. The address supports government, banking, insurance, e-commerce and delivery services.
What are the National Address components?
The standard address includes six main parts: Building Number, Street Name, District, City, Postal Code and Secondary Number. SPL also provides a Short Address, a compact code made up of four letters and four digits, such as RAGI2929.
Why should residents keep it updated?
The National Address is used as an official reference for residence and work addresses. Saudi Central Bank rules link National Address information to services including bank-account updates, insurance and financing. A 2025 SAMA circular also states that, from 1 January 2026, postal service providers must not accept shipments that are not labelled with the National Address.
How do I register or update it?
Use the official Saudi National Address service. The government service allows eligible users to register electronically, while the National Address management service lets citizens and residents update their registered address or obtain proof of address. SMCE does not collect your login details and does not connect to Absher, Nafath or SPL accounts.
What does this checker actually verify?
It only checks whether the information you type follows the expected field format. It cannot confirm that an address exists, belongs to you or matches government records. Final verification, registration and updates must be completed through the official Saudi service.
